DENVER, CO â In case you missed it, CBS Coloradoâs Shaun Boyd delivered a blow to Phil Weiserâs attacks on Michael in a reality check on his attack ad. While Phil tries to mislead voters about Michaelâs record, the actual truth is that he voted against 95% of Donald Trumpâs nominees, took them to task when they hurt Colorado, and stood up for Coloradans time and again.
At the same time, Boydâs reality check confirmed what voters are hearing about Phil Weiser: when it mattered most, Phil was nowhere to be seen and only found his fight when he started running for higher office. Before he was running for Governor, Weiser joined fewer multi-state lawsuits against the Trump Administration than nearly every other Democratic AG in the country. Now, heâs at the top of the list. Thatâs not leadership, itâs political convenience.
This is the SECOND factcheck to call out Phil and his supporters’ lies. Last week, 9Newsâ Truth Check found another attack ad attempting to mislead voters about Michaelâs record was ânot accurate.â The Bennet for Governor campaign called on Weiser and his supporters to stop the lies, try to win on actual facts, and demand the ad be taken down. As more and more voters see political ads on their screens, Phil and his supporters should spend less time with the misleading political games voters hate and more time answering why he sat out so many fights.

-
Ad Claim: âMichael Bennet voted for more of Trumpâs cabinet than almost any other Senator.â
-
This needs context. Bennet voted for 8 of President Trumpâs 22 cabinet members, which is the same or less than 23% of his colleagues in the Democratic caucus.
-
In all, the Senate has confirmed 427 Trump nominees, including judges, ambassadors, undersecretaries, and others. Bennet voted against 95% of them, something Weiser fails to mention, instead focusing on his vote for Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins.
-
AD CLAIM: âAttorney General Phil Weiser stopped her cuts to food assistance for 600,000 Coloradans, but Michael Bennet: âI voted for the Secretary of AgricultureâŚI stand by that vote.â
-
Again, this needs context. First, a judge stopped the cuts to food assistance after 22 AGs, including Weiser, sued.
-
Second, Bennet publicly condemned the cuts, calling the Secretaryâs actions âa disgrace.â

AD CLAIM: “Before he ran for governor, Weiser joined fewer lawsuits against Trump than almost any other Democratic attorney general in the country.”
-
Thatâs true. There were 85 multi-state lawsuits between 2019 when Weiser took office and 2021. He joined 27 of them, fewer than all but 2 other AGs.
-
Since Weiser launched his gubernatorial campaign in January 2025, heâs filed or joined 65 lawsuits.
