Why Caucus for Michael Bennet?
Michael Bennet’s Vision for Colorado
Michael is running for Governor to build a brighter, more affordable future for Colorado. As Trump’s chaos drives up costs and divides the country, Michael believes that Colorado can lead the way forward by tackling the challenges Coloradans face every day: making housing and child care more affordable, strengthening our schools, and bringing down health care costs.
Michael is the only candidate in this race with the experience to begin governing and delivering results for Coloradans on Day One. From balancing Denver’s budget to turning around Denver Public Schools and fighting Donald Trump and his acolytes in the Senate, Michael has the experience to craft bold solutions, navigate crises, and make the tough decisions needed to restore the American Dream in Colorado.
Michael knows that real progress for working families won’t come from coloring inside the lines. Under his leadership, Colorado will embrace innovative solutions that expand opportunity, grow the middle class, and deliver real results. Read more about his policy priorities:
Michael will build a Colorado where nobody has to spend more than 30% of their income on housing by surging housing, bringing starter homes back to Colorado, and eliminating unnecessary red tape so housing is built faster.
Michael will make child care more affordable and accessible by cutting costs for families, supporting new child care models, and investing in child care workers.
Michael will make sure our schools meet the demands of today’s rapidly changing economy by paying teachers what they deserve and ensuring our students have the support they need to get a good-paying job after graduation.
Michael will protect Colorado kids online by banning cell phones in schools and putting smart guardrails on social media and AI, so that Colorado kids are happy, healthy, and prepared for the future.
Decades of Delivering Results for Colorado
Michael Bennet has spent his career delivering for Colorado families. Prior to his time representing Colorado in the U.S. Senate, Michael helped deliver historic student achievement as the superintendent of Denver Public Schools, balanced the City of Denver’s budget as chief of staff, and turned around failing businesses in the private sector. As Colorado’s U.S. Senator for sixteen years, Michael helped pass historic investments in infrastructure, affordable housing, wildfire prevention, rural broadband, and clean energy for Colorado.
Michael Delivers for Colorado:
- Led the expansion of the Child Tax Credit, which cut childhood poverty in half nationwide.
- Helped pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and secured $8.7 billion for over 1,000 Colorado projects addressing transportation, water, clean energy, climate resilience and broadband.
- Authored the BRIDGE Act, which brought $826 million to Colorado to improve high-speed internet access.
- Wrote legislation to protect 420,000 acres of Colorado public lands, successfully worked with the Biden Administration to establish the Camp Hale-Continental Divide National Monument, and fought to oppose the Buc-ees development in Palmer Lake.
- Helped pass the PACT Act, expanding VA health-care eligibility for 3.5 million veterans, including over 50,000 claims in Colorado.
Standing Up To Trump:
Michael has never been afraid to stand up to Donald Trump to do what’s right for Colorado. In the Senate, he’s led the charge to rein in Trump’s reckless tariffs, fought against Trump’s tax cuts for the wealthy twice, challenged the administration’s attempts to restrict vaccines, and stopped their efforts to sell off our public lands. He’s running for Governor, because governors are on the frontlines of the fight against Trump’s attacks on our economy and democracy. As Governor, Michael will stand up to Trump to keep ICE and the National Guard out of Colorado’s cities, protect the rights and freedoms Coloradans depend on, and safeguard Colorado’s democracy from political retaliation.
