Bennet for Governor seeks a Communications Director for Senator Michael Bennet’s campaign for Colorado Governor. The Communications Director will lead an active communications team, serve as chief spokesperson, and manage strategic direction for the campaign’s external communication. This role is based in Denver, Colorado. The monthly salary for this role is $9,000-10,000.

The Communications Director:

  • Develops and oversees messaging strategy for the candidate and campaign.
  • Manages a communications team.
  • Builds relationships and works closely with state and national media.
  • Writes, edits, or approves all press releases, speeches, op-eds, and talking points.
  • Supports and advises on the campaign’s digital strategy, including social media, email, and texting.
  • Assists in preparing for press events, editorial board meetings, and debates.
  • Reports to the Campaign Manager.

The ideal candidate has:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in communications or public relations, including at least two cycles on a political campaign.
  • Ties to and a love for Colorado.
  • Relationships and experience working with the press, as well as on-the-record experience.
  • Strong writing skills, a sense of humor, and a positive attitude.
  • Spanish language skills are preferred but not required.

Contributions by check or credit card are limited to $1,450 total for the election. Cash contributions are limited to $100. Colorado law requires the campaign to disclose the name and address of each person who has contributed $20 or more and the occupation and employer of each person who has contributed $100. If you do not provide your employer and occupation, we are required by law to return the donation.

Contributions from corporations and labor unions are prohibited. Contributions from lobbyists are prohibited during the regular session of the Colorado General Assembly and for 30 days after the end of session. Contributions to this committee are not tax deductible.
